The Genetics of "Northern Lights"  is one of the most confused of all existing cannabis strains because there is no one who can take entire credit for its creation.

Northern Lights was developed as an indoor seed strain in the late 1970s near Seattle, Washington, although the genetics involved in the cross were known to have come from California, the original home of a great many of the most famous cannabis strains. It was initially a stabilized cannabis sativa Strain crossed with an Afghani Indica Hybrid.

Northern Lights traveled to Holland as a clone where it was introduced to the commercial cannabis seed market in 1985 by The Seed Bank. Because it arrived as a clone, the plant could not be inbred for stability and seed production; therefore, Skunk #1 and Original Haze were used to fertilize seeds from the Northern Lights parent plant.

Northern Lights distinctly shows its Afghani Indica genetic background; it is a small plant that produces big highly-resinous flowers. Although it was initially developed for indoor growers, excellent results have been produced outside. Northern Lights has a sweet resinous taste and produces a comfortable but lazy feeling, known to some as "couch lock".

An absolute must for the indoor grower! For the last couple of years the Northern Lights strain has dominated the various Harvest Festivals. Through selective breeding we have succeeded in producing one of our most powerful plants. On top of that, we have developed a strain highly adapted for indoor growing: powerful with an excellent yield and exceptional resin production. Northern Lights x Buddha is the most lucrative plant for the indoor grower.

Summertime Buddha

Light-green coloured buds, wonderful magical fragrance, lots of THC, fast-growing and early flowering make this seed strain an ideal indoor as well as outdoor choice; lots of green sticky buds with a nice mellow high to remind you of summertime.

Grows very tall, and this plant's best potential is realized outdoors. If grown indoors we recommend to cut the stem early on in the vegetative cycle and allow more than one branch to be come the main cola.

This a very unique plant, grows much like a typical Indica with sativa influence, that is very noticeable for marijuana connoisseurs.

White Widow x Buddha

In the mid 1990’s a legend was born: the "White Widow" cannabis seed strain almost instantly appeared in nearly every coffee shop menu in Holland.

This masterpiece has set the standard for the “White” strains. Our White Widow grows tall with delicate arms; buds are moderately compact in order to contain the copious amounts of resin.

Leaning on the sativa side, the buzz is powerful yet energetic and very social.

White Widow is one of a kind and winner of the Cannabis Cup in 1995! This plant is the strongest among the weed species. Has the highest percentage of THC !!!

A relatively short plant with high flower-to-leaf ratio, it can do well indoor and outdoor. White Widow has a delicious aroma and sweet smooth fresh taste, as well as a serious high. Watch the flower maturation stage and harvest at the peak of white crystal formation covering the buds. Avoid excessively cool or damp conditions in the maturing phase.

Growing hints:

The White Widow seedling are delicate and may need supporting - they often put on more growth than the stems can support, so assist them with a small stake. Don't overfeed them with nutrients! Use no more than 70% of the usual feed during vegetative growth.  Flowering Time: it is suggested to flower (12 hour light) the White Widow for 8 weeks, but 10 weeks will really give you the crystals you are after.

We suggest the final 2 weeks of the flowering cycle to turn the lights off altogether - or at least down to 8 hours. This keeps the flowers from re-growth and stresses the plant into giving up its last drop of goodness as crystals form to protect the flower.

Blueberry Skunk

Blueberry Skunk is a large producer under indoor and outdoor conditions. A dense and stout plant with red, purple and blue hues that usually cure to a lavender blue.

The finished product has a very fruity aroma of the Skunk strain and tastes of Blueberry. It produces a notable and pleasantly euphoric mental lift of the highest quality and is very long lasting.

Bred out of the Skunk family, Blueberry Skunk is an Indica/Sativa mix that produces buds totally frosted with THC.

It is an excellent example of a fine quality cannabis and its ancestors have a reputation unsurpassed in growing. Blueberry Skunk is mainly an indoor variety but will work in the greenhouse or even outdoors. Finishing time is around 7 weeks, so you won't have to wait too long to experience the long-lasting cerebral high it gives. Blueberry Skunk is definitively for the connoisseur.

The finishing time will be within 60 to 70 days of the flowering's first appearance on the plant. Expect harvest in late September to early October in the northern hemisphere and in the southern hemisphere by the end of April. A proven true breed.

Shiskaberry x Buddha

     Blend of the well-known cannabis strain Shiskaberry and a pure Sativa, Buddha, these excellent seeds are a 60% Indica and 40% Sativa mix (60/40). This combination allows for a good high but not as sleepy as most other strains.  1st Generation seed (F1)!

We here at the Toronto Seed Bank used to love strawberries, but now our favourite berry is Shiskaberry! And Buddha, well, He’s downright cool. These excellent seeds combine the popular Shiskaberry mix-strain with sweet & pure Buddha sativa. Shiskaberry is famous for its “big buds” and plenitude of crystals. The Buddha genetics encourage height and side branches in your plants, as well as a great Sativa high.

Many satisfied growers report the resulting smoke gives a great buzz without causing excessive sleepiness. A prime example of using the best genetics from two top-rated strains. Buddha is particularly employed as a popular strain by medicinal cannabis growers, since it has excellent pain-reduction qualities.

Juicy Fruit x Northern Lights x Skunk

     Juicy Fruit gives this strain the stinky smell and the Northern Lights give it a heavy Indica kick. This is a very potent plant and the best Indica strain we have. You will see very little branching unless you prune the tops: long, tall colas which keep growing and getting stickier until harvest. A distinctive fragrance of lemon and mint with lots of  ‘skunky’ odours. A very energetic ‘up’ high for the daytime use or active lifestyles. High potency and a quick acting Sativa feeling. 1st Generation seed (F1).

     G13 is well known for its smooth taste and almost complete lack of smell in the flowering cycle. This is a perfect strain if you worry about heavy smell escaping from your closet and need something that just does not smell.

“G13” is a pure Indica strain (reportedly) originating from a U.S. government program. Turns out the government couldn’t grow worth a damn, but when the seeds fell into the hands of “recreational horticulturists”, they discovered its excellent genetics and potency. As mentioned above, the flowering plants from these seeds are noted for their particular lack of odour, so if this is a concern for you, we heartily recommend these seeds.
